1999 Convention!
"Alpha Gams with Altitude," 599 Collegian and Alumnae members strong, spent several days in Denver, Colorado for the 1999 AGD Convention, the last Convention of the 20th century! This Newsbytes issue, as well as the next, will be focused on fun highlights from Convention. Be sure to keep an eye out for official Convention news and reports at Alpha Gamma Delta Online and upcoming issues of the Alpha Gamma Delta Quarterly. Miss Convention this year? Consider attending the next Convention at the Mariott Marquis in Atlanta, Georgia July 5-8, 2001.

Alumnae Awards

The Alumnae Chapter Achievement Award went to Omega Alumnae Chapter. The Alumnae Club Achievement Award went to Chicago Northwest Suburban Alumnae Club. Most Improved Chapter was Pi Alumnae Chapter while Nashville Alumnae Club took home the honor of Most Improved Club. Greater Toledo was recognized for their Outstanding Community Service Award (for a Chapter) as was Chicago Northwest Suburban (for a Club). Congratulations Greater Cleveland for the Alumnae Panhellenic Award as well as to Epsilon Upsilon for Outstanding Support to a Collegiate Chapter. The Chapter Newsletter Award was given to Denver Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter and for a Club, Chicago Northwest Suburban was recognized. Atlanta Junior Circle was awarded Outstanding Junior Circle.

Collegian Awards

The Annulet is the highest honor a collegian chapter can receive for recognition by the Fraternity. Winners are Delta Zeta - University of British Columbia (for average membership less than 56), Epsilon Upsilon - Tarleton State University (for average membership 56-85) and Gamma Delta - Auburn University (for average membership greater than 85). Congratulations to each of AGD's outstanding and exemplary Annulet chapters.

The Rose Bowl is Alpha Gamma Delta's highest Scholarship award, given to Chapters having an high academic average. Since the overall AGD average was better than 3.00 this year, these Rose Bowl recipients were truly exceptional to distinguish themselves. They are Epsilon Mu - Fort Hays State University (less than 56) with a GPA of 3.16, Xi - Illinois Wesleyan University (membership 56-85) with a 3.425 GPA and Gamma Delta - Auburn University (greater than 85 members) with a 3.2857 GPA for the biennium. Each remained #1 on their campus in scholarship for the biennium.

Costume Awards
FUN STUFF!! Led by the Apprentice Sister Sorcerer, Foundation Trustee Angie McGill, the parade of Millenium Magic costumes allowed Alpha Gams to reflect on a century of inventions, influential people and social change. We saw the Y2K bug, the fall of the Berlin Wall, ushered in the Chinese New Year, saw Watergate and even a human bar code beeping the dates May 30, 1904 - July 7, 1999!
