AlphaGam.Net News
Wow, it's been more than two years since we registered our domain, alphagam.net, and started creating this website. This site started as a compilation of some resources that were scattered between the Alpha Mu, Zeta Chi and a few non-AGD sites and has grown into a great resource site for members of Alpha Gamma Delta. We've had a lot of fun maintaining this site over the past two plus years. It's certainly been a learning experience as well! By maintaining this site, we have been able to expand upon our own webdesign knowledge, while helping others who are just getting started.

We'd like to sincerely thank everyone who has supported us and this website. We hope you will continue to support this site and spread the word about it in the years to come.

Introducing...

Alpha Gamma Delta Cyber Circle is our new name for the AGD Webring. The ring is now fully hosted by AlphaGam.Net, instead of by the company named "WebRing" that was previously hosting it. Webmasters of AGD sites are in the process of migrating their sites to the new Cyber Circle, so both rings will remain active until the migration is complete. Users shouldn't notice any difference in the operation of the ring once the migration is complete.

Along with the name change, the Cyber Circle also has a new website address and a new logo. If you currently have the logo or a link to the webring on your own website, please be sure to update them! The new address is http://www.alphagam.net/cybercircle/. Logos are available for download from the new webpage.

New Discussion Boards

Two specialized discussion boards have been created recently:

Quotes Board - This board was suggested by Arin Cox, Theta Upsilon. Use this board to post your favorite quotes about sisterhood, friendship, or any other topic that comes to mind. Poems are welcome too!

Starting a New Alumnae Organization - This board is for Alpha Gams to share ideas on how to successfully start a new Junior Circle, alumnae club or alumnae chapter. The idea for this board stemmed from there being quite a few new Junior Circles trying to form this year. We hope these new Junior Circles, as well as groups formed over the past couple years, will share their experiences with getting started.

Have a suggestion for a new board? Email us and let us know!

Chapter Announcements

Exciting things are always happening in our chapters. This space is dedicated to helping chapters make their announcements to the world!

Celebrating 50 Years

Twin sisters Bettye Rushing Banks and Barbara Rushing Wilson, both alumnae of Gamma Beta Chapter at Florida State University, graduated in 1951. They'll be returning to FSU in April 2001 for a 50-year reunion, along with fellow Gamma Beta sister Madeline Coggins Culpepper. Another Gamma Beta alum, Bobbie Timmons Yon, is on the reunion committee.

Congratulations on your 50 years since graduation, ladies!

Alpha Omicron Fall 2000 Update

The Alpha Omicron Chapter at West Virginia Wesleyan College has been extremely active this semester. First we had the pleasure of adding four new wonderful young women into our chapter. We are presently at chapter total. In the weeks past we have been very busy, our Philanthropy Chair organized a Walk-a-thon and a Skate-a-thon, our sisters have been active in intramural sports, and we celebrated four weddings of recent alumnae. This past weekend was packed with sisterhood events. We worked together to finish an awesome banner for the homecoming festivities, which in turn placed 3rd overall in the competition. We had the pleasure of seeing three of our sisters participate in the homecoming court. The highlight of this event was that one of our sisters was honored and crowned Homecoming Queen 2000. To finish off the long day we had an alumnae tea in our suite. About 40 alumnae returned to the suite to meet the members and reminisce about their undergraduate years in Alpha Gamma Delta. As a chapter we are starting to get our alumnae more active with our current members and knowledgeable about what our chapter is doing by using e-mail and other mailings. Our Alumnae Tea was definitely a step in the right direction! We look forward to more fun filled activities and sisterhood events that lie ahead of us in the upcoming months.

Alpha Gam on Survivor II

Amber Brkich, a May 2000 graduate of Alpha Epsilon, Westminster College, is one of the "players" on Survivor II: The Australian Outback. Although she's been back from Australia for several months now, only 4 out of 14 shows have been broadcast to date. So far, Amber is still in the running!

Being on Survivor II has made Amber somewhat of a celebrity. There are a bunch of Amber fan websites online! Here are just some of the sites we've found:

The Official Unofficial Amber Brkich Fan Site
Westminster College's Amber Fan Site
An Amber Brkich Fan Site

Tune in to CBS at 8pm ET/PT every Thursday to root for Amber!
