getting started with your alpha gam website

Getting your chapter online may seem like an overwhelming task, especially if you have never designed a website before and have no idea where to begin. So here we have broken down the process into smaller steps to assist you.

Step 1 - Understand the Benefits of Having a Chapter Website
Many Alpha Gams don't realize the great benefits to having a chapter website. Learn why your chapter should go online.

Step 2 - Know How to Properly Represent Alpha Gamma Delta
In the spring of 1997, International Council published guidelines to "help protect the public image of Alpha Gamma Delta Fraternity and to assist developing the skills of thoughtful, accurate communication." [1] Please be aware of these guidelines before you begin work on your chapter's website.

Step 3 - Choose a Location for Your Website
Now that you have some background information on why your chapter should go online and how you should properly represent Alpha Gamma Delta online, you should choose where you want your chapter's website to be. The access page gives suggestions on how to choose a location for your website.

Step 4 - Add Content to Your Website
There is a great misconception that you need to be a computer wiz to put a website together. This is definitely not true. The html page describes how you can add content to your website both with and without learning HTML.

Step 5 - Enhance Your Website with Images
Images add color and enhance the look of your pages. We have provided some Alpha Gamma Delta images for you to use on your chapter's website. There are also many other sites online that provide free images for webdesigners to use. And if you are feeling creative, you can try your hand at designing some of your own images.

Step 6 - Design Tips
Whenever you learn something new, it's impossible to know all the shortcuts and nuances right away. Such things usually come with time and experience. Or, by someone being kind enough to tell you about those things. :) We have included some tips to help you learn some of these shortcuts and nuances quicker.

Step 7 - Advanced Website Features
What's a website without bells and whistles? The advanced page includes information about adding a guestbook, a counter, a stats program, adding functionality using javascript, cascading style sheets, and much more!
